Speech Language Evaluation

A speech therapy evaluation is an opportunity to get detailed about what is happening with a child's communication. When a Caregiver has questions about talking, listening, & social interacting skills, we know how to find the answers.

We use formal, standardized and informal measures to determine a communication diagnosis and create a plan of care specifically for the child's current needs.

Speech Therapy

1:1 Speech therapy treatment, based on evidence-based practices, proven to be effective through research, is provided at our clinic. The plan of care developed during the evaluation is the foundation for the therapy sessions, ensuring that the treatment is tailored to the child's specific needs in a fun and engaging way. We also provide families with a home program and regular family coaching for carryover.

Preventative Care

Preventative speech and language services offered by The Speech School include parent coaching, enrichment play groups, and screenings. These services aim to identify and address potential communication issues in children before they become more serious. We also provide education and trainings for childcare professionals to help them better understand and support children's communication development.

The Basics of Screenings

Families sometimes wonder if their child is behind in their communication skills.

"I'm the only one who can understand what he's saying"   "She doesn't say as many words as her cousin and they're the same age"  "I wonder sometimes if he understands what I'm telling him to do, is he hearing me or not listening?" "Is this stuttering?" "Her sounds are not being made right" "What should I do?"

A screening is a short check up to determine if a child would benefit from a full, more detailed evaluation. A full evaluation takes much longer.

Results of a speech and language screening are fairly general:

Pass- skills appear age appropriate

Fail- consider scheduling a full evaluation

Wait- re-screen at a later time

Got A Late Talker?

Do you have a preschooler or toddler who seems to be behind in their communication skills? Many families in the Las Vegas valley have noticed their youngest children are not communicating as effortlessly as their older children. These children born after 2019 (aka COVID babies) need resources to encourage social interaction and increase their ability to make their needs and wants known....That's where The Speech School's playgroups come in.

Communication Playgroups for Toddlers & Preschoolers

Purpose:

Targeting social interaction and communication skills for very young children in a natural play environment. These enrichment sessions are grouped for children as young as 18-months up to 4 & 5 year olds.

Small, age-appropriate group sizes for individual attention and maximum learning.

Call to determine which group is best for your child.

Preschool Purposeful Play  (1 hour).

Spaces are limited and additional times and days will be added as needed. Each child enrolled in these sessions receives a free screening.
